As some of you may know, our community as well as other cities and towns across Texas have experienced an influx of online threats spread specifically through social media platforms. These posts often spread quickly and cause confusion and panic which lead to significant disruptions.
On May 17th, 2023 Pearsall Junior High School received two threats stemming from social media platforms. These threats have been investigated and have been deemed not credible. We understand how challenging these times are for students and parents; however, we do not want such events to affect our students' academic standing and well-being.
At Pearsall Independent School District, we continue to enhance safety measures for the students and staff. This year, Pearsall ISD has installed intruder resistant film on windows at all of our campuses and have installed over 1,000 feet of perimeter fencing around our campuses with more to come. Pearsall ISD is currently adding silent panic alarms at each campus that will serve as a direct line of communication to outside resources.
The Frio County Sheriff's Office and Pearsall Police Department will be assisting the Pearsall ISD Police Department by patrolling our school grounds until the end of the 2022-2023 school year. They will also be escorting buses to their destination before and after school. We are also reaching out to other agencies and asking for their assistance as we navigate through these challenging times. Our Pearsall ISD Officers will also be patrolling the campuses during ACE hours.
We are encouraging community support and assistance; if you have any information about possible threats towards our campuses please contact the Pearsall ISD Police Department, campus administration, central office (830-334-8001), or the Frio County Sheriff’s Office (830-505-7153). Encourage your kids to download the IWatchTexas app and report any suspicious behavior or activity.
We thank you for your continued support and involvement in our students' safety and wellbeing.
