We are excited to share some great news with our Pearsall community. Pearsall Independent School District has selected Joey Cantu as our new Director of Athletics, and we couldn’t be more pleased to welcome him home.
Coach Cantu brings 26 years of experience in education and athletics, including 25 years as a Head Tennis Coach in Boerne ISD and his current role as Head Tennis Coach at Boerne Champion High School. Throughout his career, he has helped lead successful athletic programs and earned multiple state titles, but just as important, he has built strong relationships with students and communities along the way.
As a proud graduate of Pearsall ISD, Coach Cantu is especially excited to return to his hometown and give back to the district that helped shape him.
“I am absolutely excited about coming home to my hometown,” Coach Cantu shared. “While one of my first priorities will be finding a head football coach, I also want to ensure that every sport receives the attention it deserves. We will celebrate all sports, and I want everyone to feel like they are part of something special.”
Throughout the selection process, the committee was impressed not only by Coach Cantu’s experience and accomplishments, but also by his genuine passion for Pearsall ISD and our students. His commitment to building strong, inclusive athletic programs aligns perfectly with our district’s values.
Coach Cantu will officially step into his new role by the end of the month. We look forward to the positive energy, leadership, and dedication he will bring to our students, staff, and community.
